Where has my newspaper gone?

First my local newspaper stopped carrying much local news...then the San Jose Mercury News kept shrinking and shrinking to the point where it's just several sections now...where did it go? 

Did the newspapers run out of things to say or did folks  just stop believing what they were saying? 

At any rate, where did they go?
